Why does my content start so far down the page?
An airy banner layout spends real vertical space before the first word — that is what produces the masthead effect. It rewards a short, sharp summary and punishes a long one. If you need the room back, Classic gives you the same content half a page higher.
Is this right for a content or copywriting role?
It is one of the better choices, because the document doubles as a small sample of your typographic judgement. Make sure the writing earns it — an editorial layout draws attention to prose, which is unhelpful if the prose is generic.
Does the magazine styling distract from the content?
It is styling applied to structure rather than instead of it: a banner header and generous leading, with an entirely conventional single-column body underneath. It suits publishing, marketing, brand and communications roles. In law or engineering it reads as decorated, and Classic or Technical fit those readers better.
