Steady career progression you want the reader to see immediately, in a plainer setting than Timeline Pro.
What to watch out for
The rail emphasises chronology, which is the wrong emphasis if your strongest argument is skills rather than sequence.
How much fits on one page
Capacity is middle of the road: comfortable for five to ten years of experience on a single page. Beyond that, drop the text size a notch in the builder rather than cutting a role.
Timeline and applicant tracking systems
Timeline is a single column, which is the arrangement applicant tracking systems read most reliably. A parser walks the page top to bottom and gets your sections in the order you wrote them. Nothing about this template needs adjusting before you upload it to a job portal.
Where in the world to send the Timeline template
Same consideration as Timeline Pro, more quietly stated. Continuous employment is weighted heavily in Japan, Korea and Germany, so a visible rail down your dates works for you there only if the sequence is unbroken. Elsewhere the emphasis is neutral.

Timeline template questions
When is a timeline the wrong emphasis?
When your strongest argument is skills rather than sequence — a career changer, a contractor with many short engagements, or anyone with a gap. The rail insists the reader follow your chronology, which is unhelpful if chronology is not your case.
How is this different from Timeline Pro?
Setting rather than substance. Timeline Pro pairs the rail with a larger scale and accent heading tabs for a more designed page; this puts the same rail in a plain layout, which suits a conventional employer who would find the styled version excessive.
Is a chronological timeline right for a career change?
Usually not. A visual rail emphasises continuity and sequence, which is exactly what a career change interrupts. A functional emphasis serves you better — Card Sections or Skills Grid let capability lead and history follow, without a line drawing attention to the pivot.
