Who the Colour Block template suits
Product, marketing and design roles at companies that expect some visual confidence. The band gives you a strong first impression without costing a single line of content, because the colour sits above the text rather than beside it.
What to watch out for
The band prints as a solid block of ink. If you expect your resume to be photocopied in black and white — still common in campus recruitment and some government hiring — the reversed white name turns grey and loses contrast. Underline is the safer pick there.
How much fits on one page
This layout spends space deliberately, so it holds less than most. That works in your favour early in a career, where a densely packed page reads as padding — and against you after about a decade, when you may need the tighter text-size setting in the builder to stay on one page.
Colour Block and applicant tracking systems
Colour Block is a single column, which is the arrangement applicant tracking systems read most reliably. A parser walks the page top to bottom and gets your sections in the order you wrote them. Nothing about this template needs adjusting before you upload it to a job portal.
Where in the world to send the Colour Block template
Safe worldwide as a document, with one print caveat that is regional in practice rather than in principle: campus and government recruitment in India, Nigeria and much of South East Asia still photocopies applications in black and white, and that is where the reversed name loses contrast. In the US, UK and EU your CV is almost always read on a screen, where the band is the point of the design.

Colour Block template questions
Does the colour band stop an ATS reading my name?
No. The band is a background fill drawn behind the text — your name is still ordinary selectable text sitting on top of it, and it extracts exactly as it would on a plain header. What confuses parsers is text stored inside an image, and nothing here is an image.
Can I make the band less bold for a conservative employer?
Yes — choose a muted theme such as Slate, Ink or Navy from the Design panel. The layout keeps its structure and the band becomes a quiet tonal block rather than a statement. If it still feels loud for the sector, Underline gives you the same hierarchy with no fill at all.
How much experience fits before this runs to a second page?
The band consumes about 30mm of the first page, so roughly one role less than a plain header at the same font size. Around twelve to fourteen years of work fits on one page comfortably. Past that, let it run to two rather than shrinking type — the design depends on the name having room, and an 8pt body defeats the point of choosing it.
