Senior and executive applications. Splitting the name from the contact block fills the page width without a single decorative element — which is exactly the confidence a director-level resume wants to project.
What to watch out for
It needs a real job title to balance the left side. If your current title is short — "Analyst", "Partner" — the header can look lopsided against a long contact column.
How much fits on one page
This layout spends space deliberately, so it holds less than most. That works in your favour early in a career, where a densely packed page reads as padding — and against you after about a decade, when you may need the tighter text-size setting in the builder to stay on one page.
Split Header and applicant tracking systems
Split Header is a single column, which is the arrangement applicant tracking systems read most reliably. A parser walks the page top to bottom and gets your sections in the order you wrote them. Nothing about this template needs adjusting before you upload it to a job portal.
Where in the world to send the Split Header template
The most internationally neutral of the senior layouts. It carries no photograph, no monogram and no national styling, so the same file works for a US resume, a UK or Australian CV, and a Dutch or Nordic application without edits. Split Header template questions
What if my job title is very short?
The left side can look light against a full contact column. Two fixes: add a brief qualifier to the title field — "Partner, Restructuring" rather than "Partner" — or trim the contact block to email, phone and city, which is all a recruiter actually uses.
Does this work for a first job application?
It works, but it is aimed higher. The split header is built to project directorial confidence, and on a graduate resume that can read as borrowed. Fresher or Centred Pill fit an early career more honestly.
Does the split header survive a Word export?
The export keeps your name and contact details but sets them in a single stacked block rather than opposed across the page, because the split relies on a two-part header that Word rebuilds differently. Nothing is lost and nothing misparses — it simply looks plainer. Send the PDF where the design matters.
