Who the Underline template suits
Almost any office role, and the best first choice if you are unsure. A thick rule under the name gives hierarchy that survives a monochrome print intact.

How much fits on one page
This layout spends space deliberately, so it holds less than most. That works in your favour early in a career, where a densely packed page reads as padding — and against you after about a decade, when you may need the tighter text-size setting in the builder to stay on one page.
Underline and applicant tracking systems
Underline is a single column, which is the arrangement applicant tracking systems read most reliably. A parser walks the page top to bottom and gets your sections in the order you wrote them. Nothing about this template needs adjusting before you upload it to a job portal.

Underline template questions
Is this the safest choice if I am unsure?
Yes, along with Classic. Single column, no photo, no sidebar, high contrast in black and white, and no styling that any market reads as inappropriate. It will never be the reason you get an interview, and it will never be the reason you do not.
How is this different from Classic?
Only in the header. Classic uses a plain ranged-left name; this puts a thick accent rule beneath it, which gives the top of the page a clear hierarchy without adding a single element. Everything below the header is identical.
Why choose an underlined name over a filled colour bar?
Because it survives a monochrome print. A filled bar becomes a solid grey block when photocopied and can swallow the name inside it; a rule stays a rule at any contrast. You get the same hierarchy with none of the print risk, which is why this is the safer of the two for campus and government applications.
