Who the Centred Pill template suits

Early-career and graduate applications where a centred header suits a shorter document and the pills add warmth.

What to watch out for

Centred headers waste horizontal space. With a long name, a long title and five contact fields, the header alone can take a fifth of the page.

How much fits on one page

This layout spends space deliberately, so it holds less than most. That works in your favour early in a career, where a densely packed page reads as padding — and against you after about a decade, when you may need the tighter text-size setting in the builder to stay on one page.

Centred Pill and applicant tracking systems

Centred Pill is a single column, which is the arrangement applicant tracking systems read most reliably. A parser walks the page top to bottom and gets your sections in the order you wrote them. Nothing about this template needs adjusting before you upload it to a job portal.

Where in the world to send the Centred Pill template

Well suited to graduate recruitment in India, the Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia, where campus placement resumes are conventionally centred and a warmer register is normal. In German and Swiss applications a centred header reads as less formal than the expected tabular Lebenslauf.

Centred Pill template questions

Why does my header take up so much room?

Centred headers cannot use the horizontal space that ranged-left ones do — a long name, a long title and five contact fields stack rather than sit side by side. Trim the contact block to email, phone and city, or move to Split Header, which uses the full width.

Is this right for a fresher resume?

It is one of the better choices. The centred header suits a shorter document, and the pills add approachability without looking unserious — useful when your content is education-led rather than experience-led. Fresher is the plainer alternative.

Is a centred layout harder for an ATS to read?

No — centring is alignment, and alignment is a visual property that has nothing to do with the reading order a parser extracts. What genuinely breaks parsing is content in columns, tables or images, and this layout has none of those. It is single column throughout.
