Marketing resume examples
Marketing is one of the few fields where you can prove your claims directly, and reviewers expect you to. Channel, spend, and the metric that moved are the currency. A resume full of campaign names with no results attached reads as activity rather than impact.

What reviewers in marketing look at first
-
The metric that moved, with the baseline: CAC, ROAS, conversion rate, organic sessions, retention.
-
Budget you personally controlled, not the department total.
-
Channels and platforms by name, since these are screened for literally.
What costs people interviews here
-
Listing campaigns without outcomes. The reviewer cannot tell whether they worked.
-
Claiming a company-wide result that many teams contributed to.
-
Creative-heavy layouts that a parser cannot read — common in this field, and costly.
How marketing hiring actually works
Marketing hiring splits sharply between brand and performance, and applying with the wrong emphasis is the most common reason a good candidate is rejected. A performance role is screened on spend managed and return on it; a brand role is screened on campaigns shipped and the thinking behind them. Recruiters filter on channel names and platforms first, then a marketing lead reads for commercial outcome. Agencies read faster than in-house teams and expect the portfolio link to work.
What a marketing resume should look like
One page for most, two for senior in-house roles. Lead with a commercial result — pipeline, revenue, cost per acquisition moving the right way — rather than a description of your responsibilities. Name platforms explicitly because they are screened on. Keep design restrained even here: a marketing resume that is hard to parse undermines the claim that you understand audiences, and the reviewer is not judging your layout skills.
How it changes with experience
Junior marketers should show ownership of one channel in depth rather than familiarity with six, because depth is checkable and breadth invites questions. Mid-level, add budget responsibility and the numbers attached to it. Senior candidates should lead with team, budget and the strategic bet they made — and be ready for the follow-up, since marketing claims attract more scrutiny at interview than most fields.

Marketing resume questions
Should a marketing resume include campaign metrics?
Yes, and it is the main thing separating marketing resumes that get read from those that do not. Spend managed, CAC, ROAS, conversion rate, pipeline or revenue influenced, and audience growth all belong. Give the baseline alongside the result — a 40% lift means nothing without knowing what it lifted from, and readers discount claims they cannot evaluate.
Do I need a portfolio for a marketing role?
For content, brand and creative roles, effectively yes — the work is the evidence. For performance, growth and marketing operations roles, the numbers do that job and a portfolio is optional. Either way the resume still has to carry the results, because a reviewer decides whether to open the portfolio based on what the resume already told them.
How do I show marketing results when attribution is unclear?
Say what you can defend and name the boundary. "Channel-attributed revenue of Rs 2.4 crore in GA4, last-click" is honest, specific and survives scrutiny. Claiming credit for total company growth does not, and an experienced marketing lead reads an unqualified number as a candidate who either does not understand attribution or hopes the reader does not.
