Each is the site's own position and is stated the same way on the pages themselves. - **Single-column layouts parse most reliably in applicant tracking systems.** 53 of the 71 templates here are marked ATS-safe on that basis. The remaining 18 are labelled as designed layouts rather than quietly presented as safe, because a two-column CV can lose its right-hand column entirely to a parser that reads left to right across the page. - **The Word (.docx) export is single column whichever template is chosen.** This is why a designed template is still usable for a portal application: send the PDF to a person, send the Word file through the system. - **Nothing is uploaded.** Resume text, the job-description comparison and PDF parsing all run in the visitor's browser. There is no account, no server-side storage of resume content, and closing the tab is deletion. - **A photograph is not a neutral choice.** It is conventional on a CV in much of continental Europe and grounds for discarding an application in the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Ireland and Australia. 20 templates here display one, and each states where it is safe to send. - **Skill meters are only drawn for skills the applicant has actually rated.** The builder never invents a proficiency level, because that would put a claim on someone's resume they never made. - **An academic CV is a different document, not a regional synonym** — multi-page, publication-led and with no page limit. ## Terminology The same document is called different things in different markets, and this site uses them interchangeably: **resume** in the United States, Canada and India; **CV** or **curriculum vitae** in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and most of Europe; **Lebenslauf** in German-speaking countries.
